Moving to an IP Network? First, Consider E911

ChuckAvatarWe’ve all heard the axiom: “A stitch in time saves nine.” Likely we all know it’s true because we have been at the point in time when we say, “If I knew then what I know now, things would have turned out better!”  But even if we think we plan for the future, sometimes we don’t really do our planning jobs well. We don’t always put into it all the thought we should have. Have we really prepared for everything we know is coming. Dwight D. Eisenhower said it best,” Plans are nothing, planning is everything.”

This is SUCH a true statement when any enterprise is setting up their IT Network. In today’s world, it’s not just a computer network, it’s a communications network, and at some point you’re probably going to be connecting a bunch of IP phones on that network. If you take an E911 perspective when you build (or even rebuild) your network, whereby subnets correspond to one specific location, then tracking the location of any phone connected to that subnet can be greatly simplified. In the world of E911, location is everything.

At 911ETC we are Enterprise E911 experts. We specialize in finding and tracking the location of any telephone, IP or not. We can help give you some valuable planning tips that will set you up for an easy transition toward meeting your state’s E911 requirements and more importantly, help locate your employees when they call for help.
